Four Types of Garage Door Damage
It can be a real pain when you go to use your garage door only to find that it isn’t working correctly. A stuck door could leave your car stranded, which means a desperate search for a ride. Here are some of the common problems that could end up causing your Apple Valley garage door not to work—and what you can do about them:
Opener Issues – If you have an electric residential or commercial
garage door, there is a potential list of issues that may occur.
Sometimes, you can get lucky, and you only need to replace the batteries in the
remote control. If that doesn’t work, it is time to call the professionals.
Since electricity could be involved, you don’t want to risk a shock or fire
hazard.
Roller Issues – The rollers of your garage door
allow the door to open and close smoothly. When these rollers fail, it can make
using the door quite challenging. Common reasons for roller issues include the
age of the rollers, a lack of lubrication, or debris build-up.
Weather Seal Damage – The first thing you are likely to notice when there is a problem
with your weather seal is that your garage will be less energy efficient. As
the seal continues to become more brittle and crack, it will begin to allow
water and outdoor debris into your garage, which can cause several other
problems—including rust.
Broken Cables – One of the typical problems that your garage door cables can
experience is that they may become frayed. Once frayed, they are likely to
break entirely. Usually, this damage is caused due to heavy usage or simply old
age, but it can be a severe issue if ignored. This is because these cables are
under tremendous tension and can break without warning. That can cause the
entire garage door to come crashing down.
